There are several types of dog training available for your dog.  This page has the four main types, the next page describes Studio Training, which is offered by LePAWS.

Puppy Training
The first thing a new family dog should learn is how to socialize with other dogs and their human counterparts.  It is important to work with a dog in their most teachable months.  How your dog behaves in the future is based on the training they receive as puppies. You need to spend time with your pup, training, playing and rewarding it for good behavior.  Learning how to focus, to walk on a leash, to follow a simple command like "OFF" or "NO" or "GOOD DOG".  Remember a young dog is like a young child, they have a short attention span and get  bored  and tend to get distracted easily.  Have patience,
your puppy is a fun friend and by learning the basics makes for a good dog in the later years.  We recommend a simple training agenda with five (5) weeks of one (1) hour classes.  We teach you how to stay calm, retain your training methods, act like the boss and your puppy will quickly learn what is acceptable and what's not.

Behavior Training
Many dogs develop social and behavior problems that will require special steps to eliminate.  Many dogs receive mixed messages and then act out in various ways.  These may be simple like not walking on a leash calmly, instead the dog attempts to pull and tug at the leash.  Another typical problem is aggression toward you the owner, children, skate boards, mailmen or other dogs.  Other behavior issues can be barking, chewing, digging or possessive over toys or food.  Each behavior problem requires special handling by a trained professional.  Sever problems may require choke, prong or shock collars to affect changes in aggression. Do not attempt correction unless you consult several trainers, please get several references and several opinions.  Sever problems require training  away from home  with special supervision.  Simple problems can be overcome with the guidance's from one of LePAWS trainers.

Obedience Training
     This
is the most common type of training offered to dogs.  Various techniques are offered today, all of these are good for you  and your dog.  Positive reinforcement is used to get a desired behavior response from basic manners to advanced off-leash control.  Obedience training refers to a dog learning how to simply follow all the basics.  These basics are learning how to sit, to stay;  to walk on leash without pulling, to come when called and others.

Agility Training

This is advanced type of training for dogs.  Agility is a sport for all dogs regardless of pedigree. Dogs and dog owners love to compete.  Dogs are offered many club organizations which provide increasing levels of difficulty for testing various skill levels.  Agility is a sporting event where a dog and owner compete to successfully navigate a series of obstacles.  Obedience training is required prior to beginning in agility classes.  Your dog should be in good physical shape.  Agility is vigorous and demanding and should be started slowly. Always check with your veterinarian prior to beginning class.   Is your dog overweight, out of shape or have tendency towards hip or joint problems ?
